The IERMB is organizing this day to present the latest issue of Papers magazine, #Papers64, which has coordinated the Institute’s Ecology and Territory area. #Papers64 is a monograph entitled Challenges and Opportunities of the Metropolitan Green Infrastructure. Thus, the conference will focus on the role of open spaces as a key piece for metropolises to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals proposed in the 2030 Agenda. It will be on Thursday 28 April, at the Palau Macaya in Barcelona (Passeig de Sant Joan , 108) from 10:30 a.m. Registration is open.

Open spaces in metropolitan areas are a set of habitats of high natural value. In addition, the impact of green infrastructure on the quality of life of the citizens who live in the built space and their ability to develop a more circular and sustainable economy than the current one is becoming increasingly evident. What should be the role of green infrastructure in the context of the current socio-ecological crisis? And its weight in metropolitan biodiversity? And in the ecosystem services it provides to society? What role is assigned to the next Metropolitan Urban Master Plan? And in the current proposal for superblocks in the city of Barcelona? These are just some of the issues that will be addressed by the conference, which will also delve into the functioning of the landscape and metropolitan agriculture, the optimization of metropolitan metabolism (water, energy, waste) and air quality and change. climate. The new criteria and methods developed in our country and in other metropolises of the world will also be reviewed.

The aim of the meeting is to present a series of proposals with a public vocation, the result of this collective work. Therefore, strategic elements will be proposed for urban and territorial planning, from all aspects that have studied the phenomenon and participated in the monograph.
